He then moved to LA and did stand-up comedy, opening for the likes of Jay Leno and Robin Williams. John also worked as a voiceover actor and an AP Radio reporter.<\/p>\n<p>Knoerle wrote the screenplay Quiet Fire, which starred Karen Black, and the stage play The He-Man Woman Hater\u2019s Club, an LA Time\u2019s Critic\u2019s Choice. He also worked as staff writer for Garrison Keillor\u2019s A Prairie Home Companion.<\/p>\n<p>Knoerle moved to Chicago in 1996 with his wife Judie. His first novel, \u201cCrystal Meth Cowboys,\u201d was optioned by Fox TV. His second novel, \u201cThe Violin Player,\u201d won the Mayhaven Award for Fiction.<\/p>\n<p>John Knoerle\u2019s novel, \u201cA Pure Double Cross,\u201d was the first volume of his American Spy Trilogy, featuring former OSS agent Hal Schroeder. The second volume, \u201cA Despicable Profession,\u201d was published in 2010.
